Surfing unprotected or use e-mail and attach files or documents without encryption or using other security measure is tantamount to sending a regular postcard. No one should read it, but they can easily do so if they wish. No one are therefore writing any sensitive or private on a postcard because it is open for all to see and enjoy. Yet people act as if e-mail and/or use of the Internet would be private and anonymous. It is not.
Things like logging on to the bank, the sharing of sensitive company information, e-mail, scans, or just even your surfing habits can be easily monitored. To not have something to hide is not the same as not wanting to be private or anonymous.
